Combined Federal Campaign (CFC)
The mission of the CFC is to promote and support philanthropy through a program that is employee focused, cost-efficient, and effective in providing all federal employees the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all.
CFC is the world’s largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world. The Director of OPM has designated responsibility for day-to-day management of the program and to its CFC office.
It is tailored to meet the particular needs of the Federal donor, CFC Campaigns, and charities participating in or considering participation in the CFC. Campaigns, donors and charities can enter through a portal above or navigate by topic with the sidebar links on your left. If you have comments or questions, please contact the Office of CFC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fundraising for charitable organizations in the Federal workplace can be traced to the late-1940’s. However, formal authority to permit fundraising in the Federal workplace was not established until 1961. In signing Executive Order 10927, President John F. Kennedy authorized the U.S. Civil Service Commission to develop guidelines and regulate fundraising in the Federal service.

About the CFCNCA
The Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) is a Federal workplace giving tradition that has raised billions for charitable organizations. It is one of the largest workplace giving campaigns in the world. The funds raised each fall through this campaign help neighbors in need around the corner, across the nation and throughout the world.
The Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) is the local campaign for Federal employees in the Washington metropolitan area and is the largest single campaign within the CFC. Through the contributions of civilian and military Federal employees, the campaign raised millions for participating local, national and international charities.
During the campaign, Federal employees can choose from a list of more than 18,000 vetted charities to support by payroll deduction, credit/debit card, check or cash. The CFC makes it easy to Show Some Love to the causes you care about. Whether you are passionate about disaster relief, veteran services, animal rights or cancer research – the CFC has a charity for that cause.
The benefits of the CFC include:
- You can give to multiple charities at once through a program that is federally regulated and fully audited.
- Payroll deduction allows you to give a little each month, adding up to a significant gift at the end of the year.
- Charities love the CFC because it keeps fundraising costs low, and the funds are unrestricted.
- The campaign has a collective impact, allowing you to join with your co-workers to support those in need locally, nationally and globally.
